Anchored Where We Grow

We don’t always choose the soil. We can know where we’re anchored.

Life does not always plant us where we expected. Orders change. Marriages enter new seasons. Children grow. Plans shift. This is a place for honest, practical, faith-rooted growth in the life you are actually living.

Not perfect growth. Real growth.

Where are you growing right now?

Start where life feels most present today.

Marriage

Two histories. Two sets of roots. One relationship to tend.

Grow toward each other.

Family

Same garden. Different needs. Growing together.

Grow together—not perfectly.

Faith

When circumstances move, know what holds.

Put down deeper roots.

Military Life

We may not choose where we are sent, but we can tend what matters there.

Drop anchor. Find your footing. Grow from there.

Sometimes flourishing looks like flowers. Sometimes it looks like roots.

Both matter.

Some seasons are visibly beautiful. Others happen underground: strengthening, untangling, healing, learning, surviving, preparing. Growth is still happening even when no one can see the bloom yet.

Stay anchored. Tend the roots. Turn toward the Light. Make room to grow.

⚓ Stay Anchored

Know what holds when circumstances change: faith, values, commitment, truth, and the relationships worth tending.

🌱 Tend the Roots

Honor what nourishes you. Notice what is tangled. Pull what crowds out healthier growth.

🌻 Turn Toward the Light

Turn toward God, hope, connection, community, and one another—especially when isolation would be easier.

🌸 Make Room to Grow

Practice healthier patterns, repair what can be repaired, and allow new seasons to become something different from the old ones.

We don’t always choose the soil.

Military families understand this in a particular way. Orders arrive. Communities change. Careers bend. Friendships become long-distance. Some duty stations fit beautifully; others ask far more of a family than anyone expected.

This space will never tell you to simply “bloom harder.” Sometimes we grow around the rocks. Sometimes we move them. Wisdom is learning the difference.

Resilience should never become an excuse to leave unnecessary rocks in the soil.

Growing from the roots of Messy Motherhood

Before Anchored Where We Grow, there was Messy Motherhood: little-kid chaos, cold coffee, marriage, military life, faith in ordinary places, and stories worth keeping.

Before we were Anchored, we were Messy. And honestly? We’re still a little messy.

You do not have to be embarrassed by where you started in order to grow. You can honor the roots that nourished you, untangle the ones that did not, and make room for something new.

Why an anchor, roots, sunflowers, magnolias—and even rocks?

The Anchor

Christ, faith, and what holds when everything around us changes.

The Roots

History, patterns, traditions, wounds, strengths, beliefs, and the things beneath the surface shaping how we grow.

The Sunflower

Strength, community, and continually turning toward the Light.

The Magnolia

Tenderness, beauty, and the reminder that some precious seasons are temporary.

And the rocks? They remind us to tell the truth about hardship. Some are part of the terrain. Some can—and should—be moved.

Sharon Kozak smiling in a blue sweater

Hi, I’m Sharon.

I’m a Christian wife and mom, military spouse, marriage educator and coach, advocate, and Marriage & Family Therapy student. I care deeply about helping people make practical room for healthier connection, repair, faith, and growth.

This space brings together marriage and family education, military-family life, advocacy, faith, and the ordinary stories that taught me to pay attention in the first place.

Educational and coaching content here is not psychotherapy and does not establish a therapist-client relationship.

Pull up a chair.

You are allowed to love your family and still admit a season is hard. You can be grateful for military life and still name its costs. You can have faith and still have questions. You can be growing even when you do not feel like you are blooming.

Anchored in faith. Growing through every season.

Anchored Where We Grow

Faith, marriage, family, and military life—rooted in grace and grounded in real life.

Stay anchored. Tend the roots. Turn toward the Light. Make room to grow.
